When Nomthandazo Peyise arrived at Flow’s Jo’burg offices a couple of weeks ago to sign some pre-employment papers, she was quite surprised to find people bleeding in the playroom. Unbeknownst to her, she had arrived on the day of the Flow Blood Drive.
“Of course I will donate,” she said. “I just need to go and have something to eat.”
And that’s what we like about her: she’s up for it – and she knows that you can’t donate blood on an empty stomach!

Nomthandazo, also known as “Noms”, joined Flow on 1 October 2013 as a graphic designer and it didn’t take her long to settle in.
“Nomthandazo has a great attitude, the right mindset and skills, and is settling in very well in the design department,” says Flow’s design studio manager Lorraine Gumede. “I’m excited that she’s joined the team and I see lots of opportunity for her to grow and add value to our clients’ design collateral.”
Nomthandazo studied at the University of Johannesburg where she obtained a National Diploma in graphic design and a BTech in graphics. She did a number of internships with various companies including King James, Stratcom and Blue Label Telecoms.
Her first “real” job was at Switch Design where she was involved in branding and design for three years.
“It was hectic, but good hectic because if it’s not hectic you never learn at all,” said a giggly Nomthandazo, who is driven by challenges and believes that learning is a never-ending journey.
Nomthandazo is very excited to be a Flowstar and is looking forward to all that the future holds for her here. She says, “I have a good feeling and am excited to be part of Flow because I know what to do and what’s expected of me.”
She has plenty of interests outside of work, including shopping, cooking and drawing. In fact, she loves cooking so much that she hopes one day to have her own restaurant and a corner bakery in Paris.
“I’m also very interested in illustrations, animation and typography and I think Pinterest is the greatest invention ever!” she says.
A graphic designer with a favourite social network … that’s a winning recipe at Flow!
