Want to know what’s happening at St Stithians College? Then check out the web-based application Flow developed for this top Johannesburg school.
Because the app is web-based it can be accessed online, unlike mobile apps that must be downloaded onto handsets in order to be used.
Flow web developer Alex Cowling says: “The app is basically a digital programme. For sports events it’s very sophisticated, with upcoming matches and their location, schools participating and inevitably match results and photos of the game.
“We wanted to create a flexible, reusable app for all St Stithians events.”
The event app is aimed at anyone who would be attending St Stithians for an event, be it a sporting fixture or a conference.
“We’re excited about the next phase, which will include conferences and much more,” adds Alex.
St Stithians College marketing director Megan van der Poll is very happy with the outcome of the project.
“Thank you so much for making this app happen, and for developing a very clean and user-friendly tool. It was very well received and a significant ‘bragging’ point for us to visitors from competitor schools,” says Van der Poll.
The app is also aimed at the media, who have in the past shown strong interest in the sporting standard of the St Stithians Easter Sports Festival. The festival is the first and oldest rugby festival in the country. Even though rugby is the main event, other sporting codes in the festival include hockey, tennis, basketball and squash.
Schools from all over South Africa participate in the annual festival, that was held for the 31st time this year.
Alex adds that this app is one of the most cutting-edge, responsive designs – aimed at providing an optimal viewing experience – Flow has taken on.
