Flow’s development team has never been shy to talk up the virtues of PHP – the scripting language we use to develop websites such as www.southafrica.net and www.nelsonmandela.org.
PHP is the world’s most popular web language and is fast maturing in the web application and enterprise space with the rise of modern application development frameworks such as Laravel and Symfony 2, and dependency management tools such as Composer, enabling developers to efficiently create powerful applications.
And now we get to talk about it a whole bunch more, at the inaugural PHP Johannesburg meetup group, to be held at our Johannesburg offices on Thursday night (that's Feb 27 2014). Flowstar Zander Janse van Rensburg is a co-organiser of the event with Pixelbase developer Grant McMullin.
The planning meeting for the meetup group was attended by about 15 developers, so we’re really excited to see how many will turn up to support the event.
The first talk will be by Richard Frank on the business side of developing websites and web applications. The second talk will be by Zander, who will be introducing developers to the awesomeness of Laravel, which we’ve used in some of our most recent PHP projects.
If you would like to attend, please visit the meetup page and add yourself to the event.
