The Dominican Convent School (DCS) magazine was one of my biggest design challenges of 2010 – how to create something that was fresh, yet carried a sense of the DCS heritage throughout. Looking back from the vantage point of 2011, I feel this came through with the colour and typographic treatment.

We have being working with the school for over 5 years, exploring all types of marketing, digital and print formats. These include the creation and development of their website, brochures, weekly newsletters and their school magazine. DCS is one of Flow’s top educational clients and we have a good, transparent working relationship with them.

The creative concept we initially outlined was well received by the client and then the real work began. The project involved the compilation of content and images from various newsletters into a 130-page school magazine … on a tight deadline.
During the course of the project, my colleagues patiently assisted me with some content and layout issues, while I worked steadily for about a month.

This was also my first school magazine and there were times when memories of my own school days came back to me. The result – an easy-to-read, colourful and fun magazine for a very unique school.

I applaud the kids for doing so well and wish them success for 2011. Here’s wishing DCS a fantastic year ahead.
